What is Digital Wellness?

“I’ll never understand the youth of today.” - said a Concerned Parent to their Gen Z teenager.

Digital Wellness is a hot topic of today’s conferences, TikTok videos, and corporate meetings. How important is having a healthy balance with technology in your daily life?

Let me check my phone…one more time

Amy Blankson spread the research that highlights how every person receives 237 notifications across different platforms like Instagram, email, and Slack per day. If you’re awake for 14 hours per day, that’s 16 notifications per hour. 16 opportunities to lose your focus and get distracted.

How do I block out all the notifications?

  • Focus Mode: Set up designated times to not interact with your phone. Some devices even have ways to set up focus modes so only a select kind of notification can make it through to distract you.

  • Silence Notifications: Whether you do this at the phone or app levels, it can be a decisive adjustment to silence your notifications during work or times of focus.

So, What is Digital Wellness?

Digital wellness is the optimum state of health, personal fulfillment, and social satisfaction that each individual using technology can achieve, i.e., you can live a life in the real and digital world without a negative impact on your health or relationships.

Have you ever been in the middle of a laugh-so-hard-you’re-crying conversation, but out of nowhere, the person you’re talking with pulls out their phone and starts checking notifications?

Without Digital Wellness, we wouldn’t understand this phenomenon called “Phubbing,” wherein a person disconnects from the conversation they are in for their phone. This new act only came about after the introduction of technology at scale. There wasn’t this kind of opportunity to disconnect from the people around before the mass adoption of cell phones and the social platforms built on top of the web.

Is Digital Wellness even important?

The answer is yes.

But we’re a company that likes to give you the WHY.

Reason 1: Preventing Burnout

  • By adopting digital wellness practices, you can avoid feeling constantly overwhelmed by the demands of being always connected. Taking intentional breaks from screens and managing your digital time helps you recharge and prevents burnout, ensuring you feel more balanced and energized.

Reason 2: Boosting Productivity and Focus

  • Digital wellness helps you stay productive and focused. By minimizing digital distractions and creating a healthier digital routine, you can work more efficiently and effectively, allowing you to accomplish more in less time and feel a greater sense of achievement.

Reason 3: Enhanced Overall Well-being

  • Prioritizing digital wellness has a positive impact on your physical and mental health. Incorporating practices or courses in mindful meditation, regular physical activity, and digital detoxes into your daily routine can reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and promote a healthier work-life balance, making you feel more fulfilled and happier.

Reason 4: Increased Engagement and Satisfaction

  • When you practice digital wellness, you create a more supportive and engaging environment for yourself. This leads to higher personal satisfaction and happiness as you feel more in control of your digital habits and better connected with your surroundings and loved ones.

Well-being for a better world

Creating a balanced digital life is not about deprivation but finding a healthy equilibrium that enhances your life. By implementing these practical strategies, individuals and families can enjoy the benefits of the digital world without letting it overwhelm their daily lives.
